Follow these step-by-step guides to set up ShiftRate, track work, and understand your numbers.

Getting started

Create your account and choose the inputs ShiftRate uses for goals and estimates.

Sign up or sign in with email and password.
Complete onboarding and choose Free or Pro.
Set weekly and daily goals.
Add vehicle, fuel, maintenance, and estimated tax inputs you want to use.
Choose a manual shortcut style and finish setup.

Starting and ending a shift

Open and close the time window used for shift-wide performance.

Open the Live tab.
Tap Start Shift and confirm the requested shift and vehicle inputs.
Track orders during the shift.
Tap End Shift and enter the ending odometer when prompted.
Review the saved shift in Earnings and Insights.

Starting an order

Create an active order so ShiftRate can track active time.

Start a shift first.
Use the app’s Start Order control or configured Start Order shortcut.
Enter the restaurant or store and available offer details.
Add stacked restaurants when applicable.
Confirm the order appears as active.

Ending an order

Complete an active order with its final pay and mileage details.

Choose the active order you are completing.
Enter base pay, peak pay, tips, and trip miles as available.
Confirm the restaurant name if prompted.
Save the order.
Check that live totals and active rates update.

Installing ShiftRate shortcuts

Configure a quick launch method and install Start and End Order shortcuts.

Open Settings, then Tools and Shortcut Setup.
Choose AssistiveTouch, Back Tap, Action Button, or the Shortcuts app.
Select the Free or Pro shortcut set available to your plan.
Download the shortcuts before following the setup prompts.
Test both Start and End Order flows before a live shift.

Using manual shortcuts

Log orders quickly without OCR or automatic GPS.

Choose Active Hourly or Active $/Mile setup, or select Both.
Run the manual Start Order shortcut and answer its prompts.
Run the manual End Order shortcut when delivery is complete.
Verify the saved values in ShiftRate.

Using OCR shortcuts

Pro shortcuts read supported screenshots to reduce repeated entry.

Confirm Pro is selected and install the OCR shortcuts.
Run the OCR Start Order shortcut with a supported order screenshot.
Review the parsed offer and restaurant details.
At completion, run the OCR End Order shortcut with the supported earnings screenshot.
Choose the correct active order if more than one is running and verify saved details.

Live versus active hourly rate

Understand the two time windows behind your hourly numbers.

Live hourly uses total shift earnings across the overall shift duration.
Active hourly uses earnings across time spent on active orders.
Compare both to see the impact of waiting between orders.
Use them as informational estimates and verify source data when making decisions.

Viewing history and insights

Look back across useful time periods and estimated costs.

Open Earnings and choose History or Insights.
Select today, week, month, quarter, or year where available.
Review earnings, hours, and mileage.
Check estimated taxes, gas, maintenance, and profit in Insights.
Verify inputs in Settings when an estimate looks unexpected.

Tracking mileage

Record active miles manually or use Pro GPS automation.

Free: choose a mileage-oriented shortcut setup and enter miles when prompted.
Pro: enable GPS in Settings and allow the requested location access.
Start an active order to begin automatic active-mile tracking.
End the order to stop tracking and save miles.
Use shift odometers and vehicle records to verify totals.
